Just after his graduation at Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), with a Bachelors in Computer Science, he emerged "New Artiste 2011” at the recently concluded Salax awards. Kizito Hategekimana, better known by his stage name Khizz, told The New Times that he was extremely excited after winning at the fourth annual music awards. "I felt so happy because we had been working so hard for about two to three years, which hasn’t been easy,” said Khizz.The 23-year-old artiste, famous for his singles Ifoto and Niwe ntawundi, is a member of The Zone group.Khizz becomes the fourth aspiring artiste to win the "New Artiste” category after; The Ben in 2009, Meddy in 2010 and Knowles in 2011.He thanked his family for being supportive over the years, as well as his fans, media and his manager/producer Benard Bagenzi.Khizz also talked about how he managed to balance both his studies and music."Having a dream in music is the same as having a dream in education. I am very passionate about my education and music- and I couldn’t give up on any of these dreams.” "It is possible to have more than one dream in life. Having a talent is not all, one has to work extra hard to be able to achieve that dream. The music industry needs patience, success isn’t prepared in only one day,” he added.Khizz is planning  to launch his new album after the Genocide commemoration period.
