Editor,Medical practitioners play a key role in any society and they need regular training.Although several hospitals in Rwanda have qualified doctors, who work throughout the week to treat us, it appears some dispensaries and clinics don’t have experienced medical practitioners.Yet I have never heard of a programme to extend training opportunities to community-based health centres to upgrade their skills and knowledge so as to treat patients better. Many people will perhaps agree with me that several dispensaries close early, yet ideally they should be working 24 hours a day because of the sensitive nature of their profession. It is my hope that the line ministry will address this matter.Justin KayirangaNyamata
