AFTER an impressive debut in the Primus National Football League that might see them finish in the top 4, Isonga coach Eric Nshimiyimana thinks his team will be among the title contenders next season.Isonga is composed of national U-17 players, who took part in the world U-17 world cup last year. The youngsters were drafted into the country’ top flight league in a bid to keep them together as well as giving competitive games which in turn would ready them for the Africa U-20 tournament qualifiers that start next month. But the youthful side has been a revelation after recording 8 wins including wins over giant clubs like APR, Rayon Sports and Mukura, 5 draws and 6 loses in their 19 matches played so far.Although Nshimiyimana does not want to put unnecessary pressure on his youthful team, the 41-year old former Rwandan international admits that his team will try to challenge for the league trophy next year."I don’t want to talk about our chances of winning the league title next season, because our team is not like all Primus league sides which can recruit big money players and our players are still young who need development in physique, tactics and mental strength. But I cannot rule out the possibility of the team winning the league next season,” stated the Amavubi assistant coach.Meanwhile, the Primus league will go on recess for two weeks as the country enters a mourning week for the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.Police still tops the league with 44 points, nine adrift of second-placed Mukura, who have however played two games less.APR and Rayon have 34 points and are third and fourth respectively on the league log.Amavubi and APR captain Olivier Karekezi is the league’s top scorer with 11 goals while Sylvan Ochaya (Etincelles), Kagere Meddie (Police) and Farouk Ruhinda (Isonga) have 10 goals each.
