ECOWAS Bank committed to economic development of W. Africa

Bashir Ifo, president of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development, has said the bank is committed to contributing to the economic development of the West African sub-region.

 Speaking at a three-day sensitization program in Nigeria’s northwestern Jigawa State capital, Dutse, Ifo said the bank would achieve the goal by financing ECOWAS projects and those of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD. The program was organized by the bank in collaboration with the Nigerian ministry of foreign affairs, the fourth of its kind in the country, on the operations of the bank for business the community in the North West geo-political region of Nigeria which ended in Dutse on Friday.

He added that the bank’s areas of intervention included transportation, energy, telecommunication, bank infrastructure, industry, education, health, environment and natural resources.
