Peter Kagabo scored a late second half goal as Atraco recorded a 1-0 victory over APR in a match that could have past as this season’s football season’s title decider.

Atraco got back on top of the league table after defeating nine-time league champions at Nyamirambo stadium. An 80th minute strike from the Ugandan import was enough to revive Atraco’s title hopes.

The taxi-men playing with their suspended coach Jean- Marie Ntagwabira in the stands maintained the club’s perfect football display dominating the game as influential winger. Joseph Kabagambe gave APR’s defense a busy task.

APR were forced to defend for large portions of the game, but a disciplined defensive effort reduced their hosts to pot-shots from distance that rarely troubled Jean-Claude Ndoli.

The return of the Twite brothers to the military side improved APR’s midfield but could not scare off the taxi-men who were composed and determined to push the tenth title chasing APR.

Atraco could have gone ahead in the first half but Uganda international Hamis Kitagenda could not get past APR’s defence. The win took Atraco back on the top of the league table with 41 points, two points ahead of APR.

However, both clubs still have a game in hand; Atraco will play against Rayon Sport while APR hosts Police. Elsewhere, Police was held by AS Kigali to a goalless draw in the earlier game played at Nyamirambo stadium.

In this week’s other fixtures;Jean Lomami and Djuma Masudi were on target for Rayon Sport as the Blues came from behind to defeat Mukura 2-1 at Nyamirambo stadium on Wednesday.

Electrogaz suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Kibuye losing 1-2 at Camp Kigali grounds while relegated sides, Etincelles and Marines played to a goalless draw in Gisenyi.

Kiyovu hopes for a better finish this season suffered a major blow when they were beaten by league debutants Military 1-0 at Kanombe grounds on Monday.
