Mount Kenya University and the Rwanda Athletics Federation will on Sunday organise a 10km race for adults and 5km race for children to raise money for orphans whose parents were killed in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. According to one of the race organisers, Rose Mathenge, over 300 participants, including cooperates, university and high school students as well as primary schools children, will take part in the one-day event that is themed "Learning from our History to build a bright future.”"Our vision is to make this race annual, bigger and even an International memorial race. As an educational institute, we also want to help needy bright students and that will also be our focus when we visit different orphanage centers,” Mathenge said. Adults will need to part with Rwf 2000, while students will pay Rwf 1000 with corporate bodies paying Rwf 50.000 for the event as registration fee.
