Friends and relatives of the late Athanase Rwagiriza Sentore will gather at Regina Pacis, Remera, for the last funeral rites and, thereafter, the service will proceed at the Cultural Tent at Amahoro stadium, today.Sentore, 80, died on March 21, from liver failure at Fortis Hospital in Mumbai, India, with his daughter by his side. He is survived by eight children.The deceased had been suffering from liver complications for a long time. He was admitted at Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, in November 2011, but later taken to Fortis hospital in Mumbai, India, where he passed away from.Boldness was as much a trademark of Sentore, a famous folk artiste, who inspired very many Rwandan musicians and transformed many lives using the power of his music.He remains a living legend far beyond Rwanda. Sentore composed a string of hits during his career including "Ndabakunda”, "Ibihangange”, Nyirabisabo”, and "Inkotanyi.” He performed to packed audiences across Rwanda, Spain, America, UK, China, Germany, and other Western countries.He trained many Rwandan artistes including his son, renowned cultural singer, Intore Massamba. Mzee Sentore was laid to rest in Rusororo cemetery, on March 26.
