Children are the most precious things in your life; you can lay down your life for them in a heartbeat yet sadly, you cannot be there with them all day. With many people living fast-paced, modern lives and mothers holding down jobs, families are often obliged to leave their children with maids. But do you really know what happens to your kids in your absence?Imagine finding out that every time you leave home, your maid dresses your baby in some pathetic rags, hands him over to a beggar to help collect a few Francs. You see, beggars make more money when they have babies. This happened to one woman called Diana (not real name) who came home during her lunch break, only to find her baby missing. The maid wasn’t sure which street her begging customer took the baby. She would’ve lost her head had she not struggled hard to check every street till she finally found the baby. Another maid found it fit to visit her folks in the village with her employer’s baby after they turned a deaf ear when she begged them to let her go. She went with their two-year-old son, as she clearly could not leave the boy alone at home.Leaving children with maids could be the only solution for working parents. Sadly, some mothers leave their kids with maids even when they are at home.  Gatesi, a babysitter said her female boss is more worried about looking beautiful, hanging out with friends and watching TV soaps rather than spending time with her child.Whether you are a working or stay-at-home mum, do not overly trust anyone with your kids because they are not responsible for them. If you have a babysitter, it is advisable that you do not mistreat them because they will eventually take it out on the kids. I know every nanny is different, as there are good ones but some are just not cut out to be maids because of their zero tolerance. If you can’t find a female relative to help you, get a maid who is at least mature and whom you will pay well for her services to care for your child. Even when you’re leaving your child with a maid, keep an open eye; try to be in control of the situation, no matter how amazing and kind she seems. Call her from time to time to check on how the kid is doing, if your home is not far from your work place, choose to go home for lunch and check on your little bundle of joy.Nanny cams do not work anymore as most maids have figured them out.
