Editor, I was impressed to read in The New Times issue of Tuesday, this week, a story which said that the Minister of Local Government, James Musoni, had ‘blasted’ local leaders who fail to perform their duties.

I totally support the minister’s position and urge him not to hesitate taking stern measures in the event that a leader proves incompetent. It is, therefore, important to always remind local leaders of their critical role in the national development.Take the example where the minister was speaking from – the Eastern Province. The province has everything it needs to transform the lives of its people, but you get the feeling that its leaders are perhaps not doing enough. They need to wake up and heed the minister’s call.RobertKigali
