A STELLAR LINE-UP of Afro beat DJs and artistes from Nigeria and Rwanda have been announced for the inaugural 'Naija Meets Rwanda' concert slated for Saturday, September 3.
Organised by Shooters Lounge, the show is a music and entertainment event that seeks to provide a distinctive entertainment cooperation between Rwandan and Nigerian musicians.
The first of its kind will see Ghanaian ‘heavyweight’ Camidoh perform in Kigali for the first time, alongside DJ Neptunez, Flava, and Ice.
Joining Nigeria’s lineup are DJ Pius, Toxxyk, Marnaud, Tyga, Lou, Higa and Rusam, among other renowned local DJs.
Speaking to The New Times about the show, Patrick Rukundo, one of the organisers of the event said that ‘Naija Meets Rwanda’ will be an annual event in a bid to strengthen ties between both countries in the entertainment sector.
This, Rukundo said, will be done through linking DJs, artistes, and MCs from Nigeria and Rwanda to learn from each other, make collaborations that can provide a growing fan base to Rwandan music, as well as attract more Nigerian artistes to feature Rwandan singers.
"Naija Meets Rwanda’ is a good development in our music industry. It is going to facilitate Rwandan musicians in learning from the Nigerian music scene which has contributed a lot to the rise of Afro music,” he said.
The event is scheduled to take place at Kigali Convention and Exhibition Village (former Camp Kigali).
Tickets to the show are already available on Nakondapp at Rwf5, 000 regular, Rwf20, 000 VIP and a table of six at Rwf300, 000.
