EditorWithout a doubt, Rwanda has done a great job in empowering women. Over the last 17 years, we have witnessed women leaders play a significant role in the ongoing transformation of the country and engaging in poverty reduction initiatives.Notably, women hold the majority seats in the Chamber of Deputies. However, there is need to initiate policies that provide rural based women with equal access to opportunities as much as their urban counterparts. With more favourable conditions and mass sensitisation campaigns, women deep in the villages would easily access loans and learn entrepreneurial skills to start up income generating projects.
