Sentore passes on
One of Rwanda's most famous artistes, Athanase Sentore, has died at the age of 80. He died on Wednesday night at Fortis hospital in Mumbai, India. He has been unwell for several months.

One of Rwanda's most famous artistes, Athanase Sentore, has died at the age of 80. He died on Wednesday night at Fortis hospital in Mumbai, India. He has been unwell for several months.
The singer/songwriter was, late last year admitted at Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, but he was later transferred to India when the condition deteriorated.
Sentore was one of the most popular singers of the Rwandan traditional music, commonly known as folk music. He sang to packed audiences across Rwanda, Spain, America, UK, China, Germany, and other Western countries, and released dozens of singles during his career.
He is survived by eight children.
