The governor of the Northern Province, Aime Bosenibamwe has urged local leaders to focus on projects that directly reduce poverty the rural communities while carrying out their District performance contracts locally known as Imihigo. Bosenibamwe called on them to focus on activities that create job opportunities for the population. Addressing a consultative meeting on budgeting and planning, Bosenibamwe said that there should be continuity, evaluation and coordination among officials while carrying out their duties.  "Districts should develop projects that set their targets beyond markets, beyond their boundaries especially infrastructure,”"Our major responsibility is to help rural people get out poverty, every plan in the district should focus on this approach,” Bosenibamwe.The Goevernor called for completion of feeder roads within commercial centres, electricity roll out programmes, cross border trade facilities and industrial development initiatives as key priorities
