Editor, I wish to express my sympathies and condolences to the families and relatives of the victims of the Kamonyi accident last Friday which robbed our country of its beloved citizens. Not so long ago, 16 people who were travelling in a taxi perished at Gitikinyoni in Kigali. There was also tragic news last year about two members of the Ambassadors of Christ Choir who were killed in an accident in Tanzania, while several others were injured. We cannot continue to lose lives this way. While natural disasters like landslides are unpredictable, thus less preventable, road accidents can be averted if all of us acted with caution.Traffic police should, as ever, continue to toughen its approach against errant motorists. I am sure Rwanda has the most efficient traffic police in the region, a trend they should maintain. We pray for the families of the victims and may God bless our Country.Maureen GasasireNyagatare Editor,We have prayed so much following the tragic accident in Kamonyi. Rwanda has had turbulent history and we don’t want to lose more lives. On a positive note, I am really happy to learn that the accident victims are responding well to treatment and some have already been discharged from hospital.I think police should meet with bus owners and re-screen their bus drivers before more innocent lives are lost. If one bus company is on record for many accidents due to careless drivers, then their operating licenses should be revoked.JohnGasabo
Editor,My condolences go to the families of the deceased, especially former dean of Medicine at the National University of Rwanda, Dr A. Nyakayiro. He was a man of great character. To his family, although no words can really help to ease the loss, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer from many Rwandans. May you take comfort in knowing that an angel is watching over you. Our hearts go out to you in these most trying moments. May God comfort you more and the love of those around you help you through the days ahead. JeanneKigali
