It’s Tuesday again. Tonight ushers in another exciting movie night at Ishyo Theatre’s Hall in Kacyiru.Solino is a 2002 fiction film, by famous German director Faith Akin and starring Moritz Bleibtreu, Barnaby Metschurat, Gigi Savoia and Antonella Attili. Its original version is German with English subtitles and runs for 124 minutes. The free movie night is presented by Goethe- Institute and the screening starts at 6:30 p.m. The movie portrays the story of an Italian family emigrated in Germany in the 1970s. Romano (Gigi Savoia), the father, decides to open a pizzeria which, by mutual decision with the wife Rosa (Antonella Attili), they will call Solino, leaving his sons Gigi and Giancarlo to work there. A hostile relationship comes to life between the father and his sons, which will end up in the escape of the boys from family.Using picturesque and nostalgic images, one of Germany’s leading film directors, Akin recounts an epic family tale spanning 20 years, a story of homesickness, first love and coming of age, of professional success and personal despair. But at its core lies one of Akin’s common motifs, a brotherly feud. In some way, it is also Akin’s own story of how he became a film director, since he belongs to the first generation of children born to Turkish immigrants in Germany.
