Ghana’s ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has formally began campaigns for parliamentary seats in the 27 constituencies in the Greater Accra Region by holding a mass rally.Speaking at the rally which was held on Saturday, President John Evans Atta Mills assured tens of thousands of NDC supporters that his second four-year term would deliver their desires. He said that the government he took over in January 2009 had inherited some serious economic challenges which needed time to overcome, hence the delay in making life comfortable for many. However, the president declared his government had done enough for voters to renew their mandate at the national election in December.  "The next four years are going to be better. The next four years are going to see the fulfillment of our dreams because we have removed the challenges,” Mills told the ecstatic supporters. He encouraged the NDC followers to ignore the campaign by the opponents that claimed the government was not doing enough reminding them that the whole world would not have been praising the country if there was nothing good going on. Mills urged party members to close their ranks in order to have a united front for the campaign and elections.   Out of the 27 seats in the Greater Accra Region, NDC holds 18 seats while the opposition NPP holds the remaining nine.
