Striker Lague Byiringiro had a memorable return from injury as he scored his first goal in Sandviken IF colors to help the team thrash Forsbacka IK 7-1 during Tuesday’s quarter finals match of the Swedish DM Cup.
The Rwanda international started and played all 90 minutes in the one-sided away game as his side ran riot by coming from a goal down to put seven past the fifth tier side.
Sandvikens, who fielded mostly fringe players and those coming back from injury, had seven different scorers with Byiringiro netting the seventh and last goal of the game through a penalty in the 71st minute.
Fellow countryman Yannick Mukunzi was not included in the match day squad by coach Thomas Gabrielsson.
Byiringiro, who signed a three-year deal with the Swedish third tier side from APR in February, is yet to make his league debut for the club in the Ettan Norra where he missed the team’s four opening league games through injury which he picked during a preseason game against Pitea on March 19 in which he was stretchered off.
