Fashion, fashion, fashion how I love fashion. Last weekend I sat until past midnight watching the fashion shows across the globe, with designers going over the top with their new designs. Believe you me; this is one busy channel covering everything about fashion from one corner of the world to the other.Welcome to the world; Peplum design is back!Peplums have been in fashion since the beginning of the 1800s and appearing again in the 1930’s and 1940’. It got lost until in the 1980s; I remember reading through an English magazine many years back and saw the photo of the late princess Diana wearing acream peplum dress worn with a Phillip Somerville hat; she looked every inch regal.History sometimes repeats itself; very recently Kate Middleton was also spotted wearing a green peplum suit and just like her late mother in-law- every inch royalty!Peplum is a little short over-skirt that is often attached to dresses, skirts, jackets and blouses. A peplum design has an old-fashioned feeling to it; it’s so vintage, demure, and very much ladylikish with such a fun detail that adds something extra, which says that the person who designed it was thinking of how to accentuate a woman’s curves.Nothing can enhance a sleek silhouette as much as Peplum skirts. Peplum skirts provide classy contrast to the waist. The celebrities started donning this trend when it came into limelight early this year through Emma Stone and Sofia Vergara. While Emma Stone looked chic and girlie in her pink peplum skirt with a red lacey top, Sofia Vergara looked elegant and super-hot in her white peplum dress. Immediately thereafter designers took a cue from the mood of Hollywood celebrities and the trend was soon on the runway. Stella McCartney featured black peplum dress on the London fashion runway which became a favorite of Liz Tlyer. Giambattista Valli’s peplum dresses were also a hit. Proenza Schouler peplum skirt designs spilled color on the runway. Marc Jacobs provided Peplum dresses a retro appeal that reminded us about Katherine Hepburn’s awesome Peplum suits. Thakoon, Rodarte, Jason Wu and Cushnieet Ochs, were not left behind either, because they all have showcased their magnificent peplum spring 2012 collection in the most recent fashion week in Newyork. This isn’t a style that only the petite girls can wear; the peplum designs look good on anyone even to the plus sized ladies. In fact I have always thought the peplum designs do petite ladies a favor  by adding some missing curves; the ruffles are especially very flattering and gives the wearer, that hour-glass figure that every woman yearns for every once in a while. Whether you are wearing a peplum blouse, skirt or a dress, the fact is that they should be worn with a pair of heels to elongate your frame so the peplum skirt doesn’t overwhelm you. Also heels make you look so ladylike and chic. Shoes that I have seen compliment peplums are kitten heels and open high heeled sandals. The good thing with peplum design is that one can find a peplum design for every occasion. Whether it’s an official suit or even a wedding gown, they are all there for you to choose from, so don’t be shy; after all it’s show time for peplum designs!
