RWANDA team is planning to send a team to the international Paralympics championship due in Tunisia from March 22-29.The chairman of Rwanda National Paralympics (NPC), Dominique Bizimana said Wednesday, "We want to send a team to Tunisia in search for tickets for the 2012 Paralympics Games.”Last year, the Paralympics team won the men’s African Sub-Saharan Sitting Volleyball Championships, booking its ticket to the London 2012 Paralympic Games.The team had no trouble in the group stage, as it cruised to wins over Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi – all in straight sets. Rwanda then beat Burundi, 3-1, in the semi-finals before beating Kenya, 3-0, in the finals.Rwanda is now among six other teams that have qualified for next year’s big event: Iran, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Great Britain, Russia and Brazil.Hermas Cliff Muvunyi and Theogene Hakizimana are the athletes qualified for London’s Paralympic Games in 400m T46 race and power lifting categories.
