Late Kagere strike frustrates Rayon Sport

Title favourites, Police came back from two goals down to frustrate six-time champions Rayon Sport in yesterday’s Primus league national football game at Amahoro stadium.

PNFL, YesterdayPolice 2-2 Rayon SportIsonga 1-0 EtincellesNyanza 0-0 AmagajuTitle favourites, Police came back from two goals down to frustrate six-time champions Rayon Sport in yesterday’s Primus league national football game at Amahoro stadium.The blues scored two quick goals in the first 30 minutes of the first half to almost rule out any possible return for Police in search for a point.Djamal Mwiseneza tormented Police’s defence and scored a stunning shot on 12th minute before Cedric Amissi doubled the lead with his magnificent extension which left goalie Evariste Mutuyimana puzzled in the stands.Coach Goran Koponuvic made two substitutions prior to the start of the second half bringing Brazilian Elvardo Oliviera for Ibrahim Ndikumasabo and Fabrice Twagizimana for Deo Othieno.Oliviera failed to convert his first touch as he beat a defensive error to pounce wide a lowly ball past Mutuyimana. He however, slammed home after dribbling past three defenders to snatch the opener for Police on 63rd minute.Seven minutes later Meddie Kagere dribbled past Floribert Ndayisaba and Frank Makengo to equalise for Police.The draw leaves Police in second spot with 31 points, two points behind current leaders Mukura. Rayon Sport remains on fourth position with 26 points, one behind defending champions APR who have also had a torrid season.In other matches played, Isonga rose to seventh position after a lone Hamidou Ndayisaba’s goal which sunk visitors Etincelles at Nyamirambo stadium while Nyanza and Amagaju settled for a goalless draw in Nyanza.On Saturday, APR pulled 2-0 victory over AS Kigali with crucial goals well scored by Papy Faty and St. Preux Lionnel while Mukura topped the league standings with 33 points after a 2-0 win away to Espoir in Rusizi.SC Kiyovu whose continental campaign was halted by Simba of Tanzania suffered a set back in their league title as they lost to old rivals Marines 1-2 at home, Mumena stadium.AS Kigali and Espoir are locked in the relegation zone on 12 and 6 points respectively.
