Gatsibo - A man, identified as Edward Ruzindana, 54, Friday night attacked family members with a machete in Gatsibo District.His elder son, Jean de Dieu Nshimiyimana, died in the attack. Ruzindana used the machete to kill his son, who had intervened to save the mother, Consolata Mukamurenzi, 49, who was severely injured in the incident and is currently under intensive care at Kiziguro hospital.According to the Police, a family dispute over land was said to be the reason behind the attack. Police Spokesman, Superintendant Theos Badege, said the suspect has gone into hiding and police are hunting him.Paul Rutamu, a resident of the district, condemned the act, saying the ugly incident was beyond human understanding."This is what can happen when lack of moral values combines with abuse of alcohol. It is a deadly combination which can turn a human being into a monster capable of bringing mayhem to humanity. The suspect was influenced by alcohol,” he said.
