Rwandan artiste and radio presenter, Uncle Austin, has collaborated with upcoming artiste Junior Rukotana in a new song dubbed ‘Igipfunsi’ that praises the outstanding deeds of RPF-Inkotanyi and its chairman President Paul Kagame.
The song’s video clip, released on May 25, starts with a short video of president Kagame describing how he spent half of his life in trenches, not sure of living to the next day, so that Rwanda can be where it is today.
Rwanda, Uncle Austin said, has given him so much to be thankful for, which is why he took a pen and wrote the song that reflects on RPF’s deeds and encourages Rwandans particularly the youth to uphold this legacy.
"This country has given me so much to be thankful for and it is the reason why I decided to sing about the guys that have done nothing but uplift this nation from the trenches. Thank you President Paul Kagame and RPF- Inkotanyi. This song is a dedication to you!” Uncle Austin said after the song's premiering.
In the song, Rumata also narrates how under RPF Inkotanyi, Rwanda achieved growth and development that it had never seen before in its history.
‘Igipfunsi’ which is a replica of ‘Wavin Flag’ by K’NAAN that appeared on the sound-track of FIFA World Cup 2010, is out on all streaming platforms including YouTube.
Austin has been juggling music and radio hosting for more than 15 years working on various radio stations including Radio 10, KFM and Kiss Fm where he is currently hosting the Evening Drive show.
Through his experience of music and radio, Austin has helped to mold musicians that later became stars like Yvan Buravan, Marina, The Ben, Sheebah Karungi to mention but a few and has worked also with regional music giants.
He boasts of songs like Slow, Buhoro, Closer, Nzakwizirakaho, and many more hits.
