Two Members of Parliament from the newly independent South Sudan Friday met with members of the lower chamber’s Committee on Education, Technology, Culture and Youth with the aim of learning from Rwanda’s experiences. The MPs, Majur Babur Ajal and John Agany Deng,  are also scheduled to visit the Ministry of Education and other educational institutions.Ajal said that that as a newly born nation, South Sudan wants to bring on board "all our sisterly countries” especially those of East Africa, in order to build their own institutions."We think that Rwanda is a role model because we know its history in the region. It had a lot of problems but now, Rwanda is really something amazing,” Ajal said."We have learnt a lot from our counterparts and for sure we are going to take back a lot of lessons,” Ajal added."Education is really taken as a serious thing here in Rwanda. We are going to take note of that. And again, this spirit of reconciliation and peace is important”. Deng  on his part disclosed that the South Sudan National Legislative Assembly had approved an education bill and was now drafting another on higher education. "We would like to see how Rwanda is doing things in terms of legislation, examinations, finance, organisation and community collaboration. These are some of the things we have come to look at so that we put in place a good education system,” he said.
