MUSANZE – Representatives of teachers and students from various schools in Zambia and Tanzania Wednesday visited six schools in Musanze District.The visit is in the framework called ‘Connecting Classrooms’, which is sponsored by the British Council.  The scheme, grouped under the ‘Pamodzi’ cluster, involves 18 schools; six from each of the three countries. The visiting teachers held discussions with various head-teachers on issues of curriculum, environmental protection, tourism and teaching methodology at both the primary and secondary school level. "We are overwhelmed by how Rwanda has managed to keep the environment clean and the level of discipline among secondary students. We shared our educational experiences, too,’’ said Hacyoofwe Exildah, a teacher from Broken Hill, Zambia.According to a statement from the British Council, the programme establishes long term, sustainable partnerships between education authorities and schools with a view of creating global citizens through intercultural dialogue. ”It will enable young people to develop skills and create opportunities for positive social change,’’ the statement reads. The British Council offered 2,000 Pounds to each of the schools in the cluster. The delegation, here on a five-day tour, will also visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre.
