How fast time goes by

You are 20 years old and you think you are young? Wait a few months duration you will be 30, and trust me you won’t believe it. It won’t be late before you start envying young people; wishing you were 10 or 20 years younger. As a child, I held a belief that by the time a person clocked the age of 50 they were too old with so many achievements to show for their ripe age, such that if they died, they would not be missed so much. Now that I am 23 years (left with about two and a half decades to become 50), yet without any serious C.V or property to my name, I now see how childish the whole notion was.Just recently, I visited my childhood home for the first time and was utterly disappointed; everything has suddenly become smaller: the compound, house, and neighbourhood were suddenly tiny. Everyone I knew as a child now looks shorter and older than I expected. While in primary seven, I used to view university as so distant, I cannot believe that I am now finalising my stay at campus and thinking about work and marriage already. That aside, it does feel like we celebrated the new millennium just recently. However, it is unbelievably twelve complete years ever since we did so. This is how quick years are cruising by! The person who came-up with the notion that "age is just a number” was really right.Sometimes my wild thoughts tell me that God (or some other supernatural authority) could have secretly reduced  a day’s time span, then left us, unsuspecting beings to run after time, something we shall never catch or beat. In conclusion, life is too short; one should make sure they get the best out of it by spending it in the most productive ventures other than wasting it.
