Brazil's former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was hospitalized on Sunday at the Syrian- Lebanese Hospital in Sao Paulo after suffering from a light lung infection, a medical statement said. The 67-year-old Lula arrived at the same hospital where less than a month ago he had been treated for fatigue and loss of appetite, with low fever.Doctors decided it was best to keep the former president at the hospital until his medical conditions improve. Lula was diagnosed with throat cancer last October and was immediately put under treatment, including three rounds of chemotherapy, the last of which was in December.
Medical exams at the hospital last month revealed no signs of cancer, but Lula claimed to be weakened by the intense treatment in recent months.
