South Africa will increase its petrol and diesel prices this week, the Energy Department has said. The petrol price will be up by 28 cents a litre, and the new cost of a litre of petrol will rise to 11.23 rands (about 1.5 U.S. dollars) from 10.95 rands in eastern province of Gauteng and 10.93 rands from 10.65 in the coast region, according to the department. The cost of a litre of diesel will increase by ten cents. It will go into effect from next Wednesday, Mach 7, the department said. Besides, the cost of a litre of illuminating kerosene will be up by five cents, while its wholesale price will rise by four cents.
