RUSIZI — The Private Sector Federation (PSF) on Tuesday launched the issuing of business identification cards to all business operators in Rusizi and Nyamasheke districts.

This is the third similar event. The first and second have already taken place in Musanze district, in the Northern Province and in Muhanga district in the Southern province weeks ago.

Speaking at the occasion held at La Petit Colline in Kamembe sector, Rusizi district, Natasha Haguma, in charge of public relations and member services manager, underlined the importance of members of the private sector operating independent from the government.

"Currently PSF depends on our government in terms of finance and other support. But in future we want it to be self-reliant so it’s your obligation as business entrepreneurs to encourage your fellow business operators in the region to come on board, in order to get enough support and see how we can stop the dependence syndrome,” Haguma said.

According to Haguma, the initiative is meant to ease identification of all business entrepreneurs across the country. It is also meant to foster smooth cooperation among members and simplify the acquisition of loans and tenders among other things.

She explained that the move minimizes confusion and enables collective bargaining on matters concerning business by private entrepreneurs in the region.

Haguma who presided over the function urged the members to mobilise and sensitise all business entrepreneurs to get registered with the private sector.

Félix Uzabakiriho, the President of Private sector in Rusizi district, also echoed Haguma, saying there was need for timely payment of member’s contributions.
