UEFA have slashed the price of the cheapest tickets available for the 2012 Champions League final after being heavily criticised for charging £150 for general sale tickets for last year’s event at Wembley.Tickets for this season’s showpiece event in Munich, Germany, will cost around £75, including a booking fee, at current exchange rates. In 2011, there were tickets available at around £80, plus a booking fee, for the final but they were only available through the finalist clubs, Barcelona and Manchester United, and not on general sale.Michel Platini, the president of UEFA, was moved to apologise for the 2011 pricing structure and described it as "a mistake’’.On Thursday, UEFA revealed the prices for this year’s final, to be played in Munich on May 19, with the cheapest category-four tickets costing €70 with an additional €20 booking and shipping fee if purchased from the UK. These will be available on general sale as well as to supporters of the finalists and in total there will be 13,000 category-four tickets on sale. The cost of the youth package has been reduced to €140 (just under £117) plus a booking fee, and comprises two category-two tickets for a child accompanied by an adult which would retail separately at €260 each (almost £217). Two hundred of the packages will be available through general sale, with a further 100 each distributed to the finalists.
