As Rwanda continues to establish itself as home of entertainment, showbiz and entertainment news rarely miss out.

The past few days were filled with scandals and sagas in Rwanda’s entertainment industry with the ‘Kigali Boss Babes’ saga at the top.

The New Times looks at the showbiz stories that made headlines last week.

Kigali Boss Babes comes to life

Last week, the most trending news on the internet was the foundation of Kigali Boss Babes (KBB) made up of six socialite women who went public about their new initiative with a promotion video which left the country talking.

The women include Rwanda’s Film actress and UN Peace ambassador Alliah Cool, Christella, Yvette Camille, Isimbi Model, Queen Douce, and Gashema Sylvie.

The socialites announced that their new initiative aims to inspire fellow women to take the entrepreneurship path and defy the odds.

The group members hail from different businesses and professions like modelling, and acting, among others. They all share a reputation of being wealthier and living lavish lifestyles. On social media they are seen walking around big cities and driving classy cars.

For the group to reach their objective of inspiring fellow Rwandans, they are planning to start a reality TV show on YouTube, Instagram and Twitter.

Sandra Teta back with alleged abusive fiancé

Last week, news circulated that Rwandan socialite and event organiser Sandra Teta had reunited with her famous Ugandan fiancé and singer Weasel Manizo, who is alleged to have a record of assaulting his lovers including his Rwandan fiancée and baby mama.

For several months, Weasel, real name Douglas Mayanja, has been the talk both in Rwanda and Uganda following allegations that he beat up his lover Teta.

Speaking to Ugandan media, Weasel confirmed that Teta is back in Uganda and that they are living well together.

Teta’s decision to get back with his fiancé received huge backlash on social media with many saying that she deserves better than an abusive fiancé.

Meanwhile, Weasel has also confirmed that the two are set to tie the knot soon. Teta and Weasel have two kids together.

The Ben owes Coach Gael over $75,000

Last week, Madebeats, former producer of Coach Gael’s studio 1:55AM, announced that the tension between Rwandan R&B star The Ben and businessman Coach Gael was sparked by the amount of money (between $75,000 and $ 100,000) that The Ben owes Coach Gael.

Madebeats said this after dozens of Twitter Spaces that were mainly focusing on the ‘beef’ Coach Gael has with Alex Muyoboke and The Ben.

Many were accusing Coach Gael of paying local journalists to tarnish The Ben’s name and trash-talk him but didn’t know the cause of the feud.

Responding to the saga, Madebeats explained that the source of the beef came from The Ben’s ‘Why’ song featuring Diamond Platnumz which Coach Gael sponsored.

The song, Madebeats said, was fully sponsored by Coach Gael who paid between $75, 000 and $100, 000 for the song's production and video clip as well as the collabo fee.

This, among many others, is what Madebeats told local media is causing the tension between Coach Gael who is investing hundreds of millions in Rwanda’s entertainment industry and The Ben.

Madebeats was the main producer of the audio of ‘Why’, the song behind the beef.

Bahavu has not received the car she won at Rwanda International Movie Awards

Last week, different reports indicated that actress Jeanette Bahavu who is one of the top players in Rwanda’s cinema has not received the car she recently won at the Rwanda International Movie Awards.

When these awards were given on April 1, Bahavu who won in the People's Choice category and was awarded a KIA K5 car worth 13 million Rwandan francs did not immediately receive it.

It is said that organisers of the awarding ceremony had not paid half of the value of the car as they had agreed with Ndoli Safaris, the main sponsor of the event.

After a few days, it was reported by local media that the management of Rwanda International Movie Awards paid for the car and it was ready to be delivered to Bahavu.

However, Bahavu later found out that Ndoli Safaris has an agreement with Rwanda International Movie Awards saying that the winner of this award will drive the car with the brand of this company for some time.

The New Times learnt that if Bahavu turns down the deal of having the car branded on Ndoli Safaris, the car might be offered to Bamenya who followed her in the votes.

Mike Kayihura recording new music with Sauti Sol

Renowned Rwandan artiste Mike Kayihura was last week spotted jamming in the same studio with members of Sauti Sol.

The New Times learnt that Kayihura had traveled to Nairobi to finalise some of the projects he has with Sauti Sol that will appear on his upcoming album.

Most of the songs are being produced by Mike Kayihura’s pianist known as Emma GFLAT who is also one of the founders of The Target Band.
