Miss Tourism Queen International is an annual Chinese-based international beauty contest established in 2004.

In April 2008, Miss Tourism Queen International set the record for the most participants in an international beauty contest with 113 women competed including Rwandan miss campus Carine Rusaro Utamuliza.

Miss Tourism Queen International was founded by Mr. Charlie See and currently owned by Exclusive Resources Marketing Pte Ltd or ERM, which is private limited company incorporated, based in Singapore.

The Miss Tourism Queen International 2008 was won by Silvia Vanessa Cornejo Cerna of Peru and she is also the first Latin beauty to be crowned Miss TQI. It took place on April 10, 2008 at Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, China.

113 delegates competed for the title, previously held by Olga Zarubina of Russia. Miss Carine finished in 10th position out of 113 contestants.

Apart from contesting in the beauty contest, Miss Carine had the opportunity to talk to her counterparts, journalists about where Rwanda has reached in rebuilding her self in economy, ICT and tourism after the 1994 that left more than 1 million tutsis dead.

It’s her third time she has represented Rwanda in international beauty contests, where she has been doing well on different occasions; places like Cong- Brazza, Ethiopia where she was being sponsored by Rwanda Initiative Promotion; which is known for preparing beauty contests in Universities.

RIP is organizing a beauty contest for miss campus for the third time in May this year where even other countries will be participating.
