For the first time in the history of Rwanda, the national women’s football team She-Amavubi stars will have a training stint in Germany.

The team departed for Germany on thursday for a two-week training camp, local football body, Ferwafa has confirmed.

Ferwafa Chief executive officer Jules Kalisa told Times Sport yesterday that the two-week training mission in Germany is aimed at creating exposure for the team to pave way for the inaugural participation in both regional and continental championships.

"We have taken over four year trying to create a formidable women team and the training stint in Germany will help in creating self confidence thus build a concrete strong studded side," Kalisa said.

Kalisa further added that after the training mission in Germany, the women football team is expected to be lined up for a series of build up games ahead of this year’s women Cecafa Cup whose venue and dates are yet to be confirmed.

The team is expected to play four build up matches against Germany second division clubs from April 20 to April 29.

The squad was picked from the last year’s women national league where Kayonza won the league title.
