VETERAN riders Abraham Ruhumuriza and Nathan Byukusenge brought their experience to the fore to dominate yesterday’s 89km Criterium race in Rwamagana.

Rudahunga 2:06:15VETERAN riders Abraham Ruhumuriza and Nathan Byukusenge brought their experience to the fore to dominate yesterday’s 89km Criterium race in Rwamagana.Ruhumuriza won the inaugural race after clocking 2 hours, six minutes and 11 seconds. Byukusenge (2:06:12) and Emile Bintunimana(2:06:13) followed closely in second and third place.Emile Binutunimana and Joseph Bizumuremyi and Innocent Rydahunga rounded off the top five slots.Jeannette Uwimana swept the women category while Angelique Mukandekezi and Diane Uwineza claimed the other podium slots.50 riders took part in the race were the top 15 riders in the men’s category and top three in the women fray pocketed cash prizes for their efforts.For national team riders, this was a preparation ground for the upcoming Tour of Morocco (March 23- April 6), Gabon’s La Tropicale Amissa Bongo (April 24-29), Tour of Eritrea (May 30-June 3), Kwita Izina (June 10-11) and the Tour of Rio (August 30 - September 3) in Brazil.
