Prime Minister Dr. Pierre Damien Habumuremyi, has said development lies in the hands of the Rwandans, urging residents to keep working hard so as to foster the country’s development.The Premier made the call, yesterday, during the monthly community work (Umuganda) in Cyinzuzi Sector, Rulindo District, preparing land where 100 houses will be built for village settlements. Commending the district’s strides towards poverty eradication, Habumuremyi said Rwandans must now put in more effort and set up goals that will lead to wealth creation. Rulindo recently emerged as the top district in poverty eradication programmes in the country that saw it reduce poverty by 17 per-cent."We must now focus on working hard to become wealthy and this can be achieved through working together, building more patriotism to make our country a paradise,” he said.He advised Rulindo residents to use the available government programmes aimed at improving the lives of Rwandans, citing education, health and existing security.He noted that nothing is impossible to achieve taking an example of Rulindo District that had been formerly neglected and currently registering developments that have improved the lives of its residents.The premier also called on the area residents to embrace the village settlements to enable government development projects reach them easily.Addressing the hundreds of residents, Mayor Justus Kangwagye, said that much as the district registered tremendous development, it faces the challenges of limited electricity and lack of ambulances, issues the premier promised to solve in as short a time as possible.Kangwagye disclosed that the district will reach 100 percent by 2014 on water coverage.
