RWANDAN fashion designers have their work cut out as they prepare for the ‘Bagilinkanda’ fashion show. On March 3, models will flock to the Umubano Hotel in Kacyiru to showcase clothing from Patrick Muhire’s ‘Inkanda House’, Colombe’s ‘Inco Icyusa’, Gloria’s ‘Glo Creations’ and Johanne St. Louise’s collections. Johanne is a fashion designer from Canada. In addition to the fashion show, sensational R&B artiste Shanel and Urban Boys will perform.  Joining them on stage will be another artiste who will pay tribute to Whitney Houston by performing some of her songs, including a cover of ‘I Will Always Love You’.Whitney passed away on February 11 at 48. Her body was discovered underwater in a bath at a hotel in Beverly Hills. The show is a great chance for the fashion designers to promote their collections among the local population. They encourage all fashion lovers to attend.‘Bagir’inkanda’ is a fusion of fashion and music and it will be celebrated under the theme: "Love your body.” The fashion show will provide that the definition of "sexy” may be applied to anyone as long as people appreciate their bodies and believe in themselves.Patrick Muhire, CEO of Inkanda House, told The New Times that the event is aimed at encouraging people to appreciate their body shapes."Most teenage girls are starving themselves and seriously risking their health in order to be a "size zero,” Muhire noted. "The aim of this fashion show is to encourage young girls and other people to love and appreciate their body – exercise and eat healthy,” he added.Dazzling male and female models will strut their stuff on the runway wearing fabulous collections designed by our own seasoned and upcoming fashion designers. It is interesting how many women and men say they use the show as a motivator to hit the gym, or to finally start their diets. The show starts at 7p.m and entrance fee is Rwf1500, one drink inclusive.
