A new book on Rwanda’s development path and recovery from the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi will be launched, this week. Titled, ‘This is Your Time, Rwanda Genocide is over, we have overcome,’ and authored by Justine Mbabazi, an international law expert, the book will also be launched in Canada, Australia and the US soon. "It’s high time the world knew the current Rwanda, many people in other countries have a different picture of Rwanda based on what the international media portray,” she said. She added that it’s Rwandans themselves who have the task of telling the story about the country’s recovery."The Diaspora needs to talk a lot about the current development that is taking place in the country. My children back in Canada keep asking me, "dad, what can we be proud about Rwanda? This means Rwandans who live abroad lack information on their country’s progress,” Mbabazi said. She said that with, Rwanda leading the world in women representation in decision-making organs and empowerment, and women constituting more than half (about 56 percent) of its parliament, was great story to tell the world."The book talks about the need to stop looking at Rwanda in the context of the Genocide, but a re-born purpose-driven nation. We are way past those dark days, we’ve since moved on,” said the author.
