US Embassy launches reading culture campaign

The US Embassy has embarked on a pilot project to promote writing and reading of the English language.

The US Embassy has embarked on a pilot project to promote writing and reading of the English language.Estimated to cost $50,000, the project will give free access to various types of text books and internet, according to the Embassy`s Public Affairs Officer, Susan Falatko.As part of the project, a centre dubbed ‘American Corner’ will today open at the Rwanda Tourism University College (RTUC) and Rubavu Vocational Training Centre where such facilities will be accessed."We want even primary school pupils, secondary and university students as well as the public to utilize these centres efficiently and freely,” Falatko said.  She pointed out that the project will be rolled out to various parts of the country so as to benefit more people."We shall have various activities, including discussions, presentations as well as screening films that will prove the need for people to read,” she said.
