Rwandans living in Zimbabwe held their first ever reunion to celebrate the launch of their association. The Rwanda Diaspora Association of Zimbabwe was formed eight months ago and has since seen hundreds enroll for membership. A statement released, yesterday, by Rwanda’s High Commission in South Africa, which oversees Zimbabwe indicated that the top officials of the High Commission, including the First Consular and First Secretary, attended the event. "The Rwandan Diaspora Association has been officially registered in Zimbabwe. The Association is mainly composed of international civil servants, students, business people as well as refugees,” the statement read in part.In the last eight months, the Association has been able to gather Rwandans into various social activities and exchange information on Rwanda.The acting chairperson of the association, Christine Umutoni, dwelt on the importance of the Diaspora association. She called on members to uplift their living standards as well as offer great value to the Rwandan culture and its essence in human development.She further urged those present to contribute to the development of Rwanda. During the function, the Diaspora association unveiled its new cultural dancing troupe known as ‘Imanzi’ which is comprised of young people.
