AFRICA’s football governing body (Caf) is set to give $150,000 to the families of the Port Said tragedy.The donation for those affected by the clashes in Port Said (Egypt) on February 1, which killed 74 people, was approved at a Caf meeting on Saturday in Gabon. It follows world governing body Fifa’s announcement that it would give $250,000 to the families. The deaths sparked renewed protests against military rule in Egypt. Flags have flown at half mast at the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. Teams have also observed a minute’s silence before Nations Cup games as a mark of respect to those killed, after the game between Al-Ahly and Al Masry. Fifa demanded a "full report” in the wake of the violence and Caf President Issa Hayatou said African football was in "a state of mourning”.
