Musanze - the visiting Chief of Defence Staff from Ivory Coast, Lt. Gen. Soumaïla Bakayoko, yesterday, visited ex-combatants from rebel groups undergoing demobilization and reintegration sessions Gen. Bakayoko heard testimonies from ex-rebel combatants on their experiences since rgeir return, why they abandoned rebel activities, and their future plans "This is a good lesson for not only Ivory Coast but African countries in post conflict periods. These solutions you have adopted here may add to our knowledge, we came to learn from such developments,’’ Gen. Bakayoko said.The General, who is here on a three-day visit, also visited the Rwandan border with D R Congo, in Rubavu, and activities of environmental protection by demobilized soldiers along Rubavu hill.‘’It was a good decision for you to return home to join others in building your country. I am happy to note that you have put your differences aside,’’ Gen. Bakayoko said.Gen.Bakayoko told reporters that his country is emerging from a crisis and that he hopes to take advantage of the Rwandan experience back home.
