Following an operation he had on December 12, 2007, the eminent local artist Minani Rwema died on Sunday 02 April 2008 from a liver disease. but the legend still lives in people’s minds.

Rwema, best known for his hit Sur la terre (on this earth); died at Amalita hospital in India and his body was laid to rest a week later.

He was a man of integrity and cared so much about his friends and the country which is why many still miss him. The news of his death shocked not only local artists and music lovers, but also the entire world.

The Ugandan Music Star, Joseph Mayanja aka Chameleon described Minani Rwema as one of the most talented artists the country had ever had.

Minani Rwema is survived by two children and a wife.
