Twenty two African ministers in charge of labor including the Namibian prime minister will meet in the Burundian capital Bujumbura from Feb. 20-24 in an effort to improve the sector of labor in their respective countries, the Burundian civil service and labor minister said in a press conference convened in Bujumbura on Wednesday."During the meeting of African labor ministers, we (Burundi) will seize the opportunity to request support from them on the review of Burundi’s laws regarding statutes in the country’s public administration,” Burundi’s Civil Service Minister Annonciatta Sendazirasa told the press conference.She said that Burundi has a general statute of civil servants, but which only concerns less than 10 percent of civil servants. She said several categories of civil servants are governed by particular provisions. "Teachers who constitute 82 percent of Burundi’s civil servants are governed by particular provisions of the general statute of civil servants,” said Sendazirasa.The Burundian civil service and labor minister also said that the African labor ministers will seek ways of using information and communication technologies in the labor sector of their respective countries.
