“East or West, home is best,” is one hell of a popular saying. Whenever I hear about camping, my mind naturally goes on a trip to the land of a thousand hills, my land, my home, my life. The green landscape and great horizons with the breathtaking sunset are what make camping in Rwanda a must do.

Going places other than your home, to interact with nature is the in-thing. And camping is just the thing to do. Why camping anyway?Camping is another way of appreciating nature and living life outside the ordinary. Appreciating nature is not just waking up one day and complimenting the sun that rises and sets through your bedroom window. It’s more than that. Going to a campsite away from home, perhaps in the woods of Nyungwe forest, is what I would consider as appreciating nature. Touring the parks and finding out new breeds of trees, animals and birds, is yet another great reason to try out camping. Forget the comfortable life at home and try out camping; is an experience you do not want to miss. Waking up to wild food might interest your senses. Like they say, change is a factor of life and in this case, the wild might just be the necessary change you need. Camping also entails many activities that one might need to get life going; you can call it the stress reliever. For instance, activities at campsites like soccer, volleyball, bungee jumping and mountain climbing are things you do not want to miss. Regardless of whether you’ve tried these activities before, it’s still worth it.The tent is what I call ultimate fun while camping. Some campsites have fine hotels to sleep in while others opt for tents. In Rwanda, we have both options. In Nyungwe and Akagera national park, where camping grounds are on site. What others say...For some, camping is more than nature or finding out new things. For couples, camping is ideal for a honeymoon. So what are you waiting for? Take your chances and explore the only land with a thousand hills.
