Ivorian Army chief lauds Rwanda’s recovery

The Ivory Coast army chief, Lt. Gen. Soumaïla Bakayoko, who is in the country for a five day official visit, vowed to use Rwanda’s example in  post-conflict unity and reconciliation efforts in his own nation. He made these remarks after laying a wreath at the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Gisozi.

The Ivory Coast army chief, Lt. Gen. Soumaïla Bakayoko, who is in the country for a five day official visit, vowed to use Rwanda’s example in  post-conflict unity and reconciliation efforts in his own nation. He made these remarks after laying a wreath at the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Gisozi.

"We have come to Kigali to visit our friends in the Rwandan army so that we benefit from the experience Rwanda has today”, he continued to say.

The Chief of General Staff of the Ivory Coast Republican Forces is heading a nine-person delegation. They are interested in Rwanda’s experience on issues related to the reintegration of ex-belligerent forces in a single unified army and the concept of the Reserve Force.

The Ivorian delegation will also hold discussions with MoD/RDF leaders and tour of various military facilities.
