HUYE – Police in Huye District have arrested three people in connection with the killing of a 47-year old woman. According to security sources, the incident took place in Simbi Sector last Sunday evening and the body was found the following morning.The deceased was identified as Gaudence Nyirandama, a resident of Kigarama village, Kabusanza Cell of Simbi Sector.The three suspects in police custody are Consensa Mukamusonera, 26, her husband Viateur Nturanyenabo, 42 and their neighbor, Paul Barinda, 28.Mukamusonera allegedly hit Nyirandama with a hoe after she found the deceased with her husband at their home. He later called Barinda who, according to the local authorities "finished off the Nyirandama and got rid of her body.”It is suspected that Nturanyenabo had an extra-marital affair with the deceased, which culminated in the homicide.According to Jacques Sebagabo, the acting Executive Secretary of Simbi Sector, the prime suspect in the gruesome murder had confessed to the killing. By press time, the suspects were still detained at Ngoma police station as investigations continue."What happened is regrettable. I am personally touched. We did not expect such a thing to happen. We are saddened by this,” grieved Constance Mukakalisa, an area resident.Nyirandama’s funeral, which was held on Tuesday, was attended by district authorities including the Mayor, the District’s Police Commander (DPC) and the Military commander in the area.
