The inflation rate for January is 7.81 per cent, down from 8.34 per cent in December, the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda announced today.

According to the NISR statistics, the decrease in inflation is mainly due to the drop in pump prices as a result of government reduction in fuel taxes.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages prices have fallen by 0.09%, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 1.29% and transport by 1.31%

National Bank of Rwanda projections show that inflation will be at 7.5 per cent at the end of this year.
