The parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC), this evening, submitted to the Chamber of Deputies a report of its inquiry into the accountability issues raised in the 2009/10 Auditor General’s (AG) report. The AG report indicated that up to Rwf9.7 billion was unaccounted for over a period of 18 months, largely through dubious public tenders.

PAC, chaired by former House Speaker, Juvenal Nkusi, summoned and interrogated dozens of government officials over the AG report, and eventually drew recommendations, including calls for prosecution of the culpable individuals and recovery of stolen funds.
