Editor,I wish to react to an article published in The Sunday Times, dated February, 12 under the headline "Rwf5 billion earmarked for irrigation project in Nyagatare”.I wish to commend the officials from Ministry of Agriculture for their efforts to promote agriculture, which is a critical sector in the country’s economy.Like many other African countries, Rwanda is primarily an agro-based country and the investments made in irrigation would definitely boost agricultural production and the economy at large.Promotion of irrigation in the country will also ensure sustainability of food security, thus transforming the standards of living among farmers.Anitha MutambaNyagatare
