Over 50 kids with disabilities yesterday started a six-day training clinic in sitting volleyball, Goal ball and Athletics. The project, the first of its kind in Africa, will have representatives from countries like Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, DRCongo, Rwanda and Ethiopia.Celestin Nzeyimana, the Secretary General of the National Paralympic Committee, said the major aim of the clinic is to advance games of the disabled among the youth which could lead to Africa organizing youth games for the disabled."Youth games for the disabled are held in Asia, Europe and other continents but there are not there in Africa. So this pilot project will boost the games and other clinics will be held in other countries in the near future."All this is being done so that the continent can hold its first youth Paralympics games,” Nzeyimana noted.Rwanda is one of the countries on the continent that has excelled in Paralympics games after winning the world sitball championship last year and also qualifying for the London Paralympics Games of 2012 among other achievements.
