Thirty-five children from Huye town, in the Southern Province on Sunday completed a three month tennis camp geared at nurturing budding talent in the sport.The camp, the first of its kind sponsored by Matar Supermarket, Butare Tennis Club, telecommunication company Tigo and the Rwanda Tennis Federation, was characterized by rousing enthusiasm from budding young players eager to improve their game."If we have to develop tennis we need to start with children, we have to make them love the game right when they are still young,” said Hassan Chakra, one of the organizers of the camp.During the camp, 10 year old Godson Seno, a first time tennis player emerged top. He was given a tennis racquet with professional balls and free access to the Butare tennis club court. The youngest player, 4-year old Lorenzo Shimwa was given a racquet and was allowed free access to the Butare tennis court. The event will be held annually, according to the organizers.
